Dear Nix neighbor,
When we finally announced Nix Library’s reopening a few short weeks ago, we were thrilled to be able to serve the Carrollton neighborhood again.
I am now disappointed to have to let you know that we must close the Library again. Emergency repairs are needed for a cracked drain line in Nix’s basement. This closure is for the comfort and safety of all who use Nix Library. We cannot operate a Library without running water. We will work as quickly as possible to address this issue and reopen your Library.
As soon as we can, we will update you on Nix Library’s status. You may also visit https://nolalibrary.org/news/construction-projects/ for the latest information.
Thank you for being part of our Library family and for your patience.
We hope to serve you again soon.
Sincerely,
Emily Painton
Executive Director & City Librarian
Central Carrollton Association (CCA) has undertaken a sidewalk disrepair project. They have documented almost 50 instances of sidewalk disrepair in their neighborhood caused by S&WB and plotted each on a google earth project page that shows the location of each incident. Click here for the Public Google Earth Project link The incidents are sidewalks torn up around water meters and then replaced with rock gravel. They then created a 311 report, all under the name CCA NOLA, for each incident. The service numbers are all on the Google Earth project as well. Click here for the spreadsheet of all submitted 311 tickets. They will track these submitted tickets over the coming weeks and months and report back with any responses. CCA wants to work with the Carrollton Area Network to identify this same issue in other Carrollton neighborhoods.
